Walmart Marketplace onboarding
past the application, into a profitable catalogue

Walmart approves sellers on performance history, not just paperwork, so the application itself takes preparation. We build the case for approval, set up the catalogue feed, and price every item with Walmart's fees already counted.

Why Walmart Marketplace is not a quick signup

Walmart does not open its marketplace to anyone with a product and a credit card. Sellers apply, and Walmart reviews business history, past performance on other channels, and the categories involved before deciding. A rushed or thin application gets rejected, and a second attempt without real changes usually fares no better.

Approval is only the start. Walmart expects price parity with what you charge elsewhere online, and it checks. A seller running a flash sale on their own site while Walmart still shows the old price can lose standing fast. Catalogue feeds follow a strict item spec by category, and a feed error can leave a product invisible or rejected for days before anyone notices the sales gap.

Fulfilment is its own decision. Walmart Fulfillment Services can help win the Buy Box, but it comes at a cost per unit that changes the real margin. Sellers who choose WFS or their own warehouse without modelling both against their actual numbers often find out which one was wrong only after months of orders.

What we build for your application and catalogue

We start with the application itself: business history, past performance data and the written case Walmart’s review process asks for. If your current standing makes approval unlikely, we say so before you spend time on an application built to be rejected.

Once approved, the catalogue goes in through Walmart’s item spec, built correctly by category from the start, not fixed after rejections pile up. We model WFS against your own fulfilment using your real shipping cost, speed and volume, then recommend the one that actually protects your margin. Pricing rules respect Walmart’s price parity requirement automatically, so a sale on your own site does not quietly put your Walmart listing out of compliance.

Walmart Connect campaigns run with a budget tracked to profit per item, not to impressions. Review requests go out through Walmart’s own tools, sent the same way to every buyer, never gated and never paid for. We check feed health on a schedule, so a rejected item or a pricing mismatch gets caught before it costs real sales.

From application to a live catalogue

  1. Application review. An honest read of your standing, and the case built around it.
  2. Approval and category setup. Item spec built correctly for your categories from day one.
  3. Fulfilment decision. WFS or your own warehouse, modelled against your real numbers.
  4. Catalogue and pricing. Feed live, with price parity rules and a margin floor built in.
  5. Ads and feed health. Walmart Connect tracked to profit, with regular checks for feed errors.

What sellers like you typically see

Walmart’s review of a new seller application is commonly reported to take one to three weeks. That is an industry estimate, and a thin business history can push it longer or end in rejection. Referral fees vary widely by category. Sellers who count the real fee and the WFS cost before pricing tend to avoid the margin surprises that show up a month into selling.

Our own numbers on marketplace pricing and catalogue work are in two case studies. One is the digital goods marketplace automation case study. The other is a supplements store rebuild, with sales growing ×10 in a year - one client, results vary.

Why work with Senator Media on this

We build the application and the catalogue the same way we build our own pricing: counting every real fee before a number goes live. You get a fixed price for setup and an honest read of your approval odds before you commit.

If Walmart is not the right marketplace for your catalogue right now, we say so during the application review. See the full breakdown on our e-commerce and marketplaces service, or get a written plan for your catalogue.

FAQ

How much does Walmart Marketplace setup cost?

The application and first catalogue feed start at $1,500. Ongoing feed management and Walmart Connect ads start at $1,000 a month. Selling with one pricing engine across several marketplaces is $8,000 and up.

Can you guarantee our application gets approved?

No. Walmart reviews business history and past performance, and the final decision is theirs alone. What we do is build the strongest honest case and tell you upfront if your current standing makes approval unlikely.

WFS or our own warehouse?

We model both against your real shipping cost, speed and order volume. WFS can win the Buy Box more easily but costs more per unit. Your own fulfilment keeps margin if your delivery speed already competes.

What is price parity, and why does it matter?

Walmart expects your price there to match or beat your price elsewhere online. We build pricing rules that respect this automatically, instead of a manual check that gets missed during a sale.

Do you handle catalogue feed errors?

Yes. A rejected item or a feed error can sit unnoticed for days and quietly cost sales. We check feed health on a schedule and fix what Walmart flags before it becomes a pattern.

How do you get reviews without breaking Walmart's rules?

We turn on Walmart's own review request tools and send the same request to every buyer. We never pay for a review, and we never hide a request from a buyer who might leave a low score.
