Telegram Stars payments,
wired into your bot's actual flow
Telegram Stars is the native way to charge inside a bot or Mini App without sending anyone to an external checkout page. We wire the Bot API's invoice and pre-checkout flow into your actual product logic, so a purchase triggers delivery, an admin notification and a receipt, not just a successful payment event nobody acts on.
What it is
Telegram Stars is Telegram’s own in-app currency for paying inside a bot or Mini App, built on the Bot API’s invoice and payment flow. A user buys Stars once, through Telegram itself, and then spends them inside any bot that accepts them, which removes the usual friction of redirecting to an external payment page. Building this well means more than calling sendInvoice: the pre-checkout step has to validate that what the user is buying is still available and priced correctly, and the successful-payment event has to actually trigger what was promised, a digital good, access, a subscription period, not just log that money arrived.
When you need it (and when you do not)
You need this if your product already lives inside Telegram, a bot-based store, a game club, a content subscription, a paid feature in a Mini App, and you want a payment method that never leaves the chat. It is a particularly good fit for digital goods, since delivery can happen in the same message thread as the purchase, and for audiences where card payments carry friction Telegram’s own currency does not.
You do not need Stars if your main audience is not on Telegram, or if your product needs payment methods Stars cannot provide, like physical goods with shipping or a true multi-currency B2B invoice; those cases need a standard payment gateway integration instead, which can run alongside Stars rather than replacing it.
How we build it
The bot (aiogram in Python, or Telegraf in Node/TypeScript, matching your existing stack) creates an invoice for the specific product, price in Stars, and metadata needed to fulfill the order later. The pre-checkout handler runs just before payment is taken and is where we validate anything that could have changed since the invoice was created: stock, price, whether the user is still eligible. Only after Telegram confirms the payment does the successful-payment handler run, and that handler is wired directly into your delivery logic, unlocking content, sending a digital key, extending a subscription, so a successful charge and the product it paid for happen in the same transaction path rather than two systems that can drift apart.
Every invoice, payment and refund is logged with enough detail to reconcile later, and admins get a notification on each purchase so support can see what happened without digging through bot logs.
What to watch
Stars are Telegram-specific: there is no way to accept them outside the platform, and payouts from Stars back to real currency go through Telegram’s own revenue-sharing terms, not a bank transfer you control directly, which is worth knowing before basing a whole revenue model on them. Running cost is close to zero beyond normal bot hosting, since there is no separate gateway fee on your side. The main ownership risk is treating pre-checkout as optional; skipping it is how bots end up selling out-of-stock items or honoring a price that already changed.

FAQ
How much does Telegram Stars integration cost?
From $900 for a standard product or subscription flow in one bot; a catalogue with many SKUs or a Mini App storefront costs more and is quoted after we see your flow.
How long does it take?
1 to 2 weeks, including testing the full invoice, pre-checkout and successful-payment sequence.
Does this work in a Mini App, not just a bot chat?
Yes. The same Bot API payment flow is available from a Mini App's interface; we wire it to whichever front end your product actually uses.
Who owns the bot and the payment logic?
You. The bot token, the code and the transaction log are yours from the first commit.
Can customers get refunds?
Yes, Stars payments support refunds through the Bot API, and we build the trigger (support request, order cancellation) you want to drive it, rather than leaving it as a manual step.
