Payment events on autopilot:
matched, reconciled, flagged before they become disputes
Payment events, a successful charge, a failed renewal, a dispute opened, all arrive as webhooks that something has to catch, match to the right order and act on correctly, or money and inventory quietly drift out of sync. We built exactly this kind of handling for a reference multi-vendor marketplace with Stripe, crypto and refunds; we wire the same discipline into your real payment flow.
The process today
A payment integration that only handles the happy path, charge succeeds, order marked paid, works fine until the first failed renewal, dispute or duplicate webhook arrives, and those are not edge cases at any real volume, they are a predictable weekly occurrence. Without proper handling, a failed renewal silently drops a customer’s access or, worse, keeps it active without a successful payment behind it.
The second cost is reconciliation: matching what Stripe’s dashboard says was charged against what the order system shows as paid, by hand, at month end, is slow and only catches a mismatch well after it happened, by which point unwinding it takes real time.
The third is disputes handled reactively: a chargeback notice arrives with a deadline to respond, and if nobody has the delivery confirmation and order history ready to go, the dispute is lost by default, not because the charge was actually fraudulent.
What the agent does
The agent catches every payment-related webhook, successful charge, failed charge, refund, dispute, subscription event, and matches it to the correct order or subscription record the moment it arrives, with idempotency checks so a duplicate webhook from Stripe’s own retry behaviour never double-processes. Failed renewals enter a retry flow inside Stripe’s supported window, paired with a customer notice, recovering a real share of failures automatically before anything is cancelled.
When a dispute opens, the agent prepares the evidence bundle, delivery confirmation, order and communication history, from your own records, ready for a person to review and submit rather than scrambled together after the deadline is already close. Every event is logged into a reconciliation record matched against Stripe’s own reporting, the same discipline behind the Stripe and crypto payment handling we built into a reference marketplace with refunds and platform commission modelled end to end.
Typical setup: Stripe webhooks, your order or subscription database, and an alert channel for disputes and failed-payment flags.
Rollout follows the same sequence across every automation we build: map the real process together with the people doing the work today, including the exceptions and the real volume, not just the clean-path version; build and test against a sample of your real data rather than a demo dataset; run a dry run against live activity before anything is allowed to act on its own; then hand over the logs, the kill switch and a short written guide so your team can run it without us in the room. The 30-day tuning window that follows launch is treated as real work, not a formality: thresholds, wording and edge cases get adjusted against what the first weeks of real usage actually show, not against what looked right before launch.
What stays with humans
Submitting a dispute response, deciding refund policy exceptions, and any judgment call on a borderline chargeback stay with your team. The agent matches, retries and prepares evidence within Stripe’s own rules; it does not submit a dispute response or waive a payment rule on its own.
Guards
No order is marked paid without a matching confirmed Stripe event, and idempotency checks prevent any webhook from being processed twice. Every event and reconciliation action is logged for audit. A kill switch pauses automated processing in one message, and the flow is tested against Stripe’s test-mode events before touching real payments.
Price and timeline
| Option | Price | What it covers | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single automation | from $900 | One order system, webhook handling, failed-payment recovery, reconciliation | 5 to 10 days |
| Department package | from $2,500 | Marketplace-style setup: Stripe plus crypto, refunds, commission handling, dispute evidence pipeline | 2 to 4 weeks |
Running cost is usually $20 to $100 a month in model usage depending on volume, with a budget cap set before launch.

FAQ
How much does Stripe event automation cost?
From $900 to wire webhook handling, matching and reconciliation into one order system, live in 5 to 10 days. A full marketplace-style payment setup with crypto alongside Stripe, refunds and commission handling sits in our e-commerce package.
What happens when a webhook arrives twice?
Idempotency checks mean a duplicate webhook, which Stripe's own system can and does send, never processes twice or double-updates an order; this is one of the most common sources of payment bugs we fix in existing integrations.
How does it handle a failed subscription renewal?
A retry schedule inside Stripe's own retry window, paired with a customer notice, recovers a share of failed renewals automatically; what is still failing after the window closes is flagged for a person instead of silently cancelling access.
Does it fight disputes for us?
It prepares the evidence bundle, delivery confirmation, communication history, order details, from your own records, but a person reviews and submits it; contesting a dispute is a decision with real financial weight that stays with your team.
Can this run alongside a crypto payment option?
Yes, the same event-matching and reconciliation discipline applies whether the payment method is Stripe, a crypto gateway, or both side by side, the way we run it on our own marketplace.
