A mentor every new hire can ask
without waiting for a senior's calendar

New hires ask the same ten questions in their first month, and senior staff answer them one conversation at a time. We build a mentor agent trained on your playbooks, SOPs and past decisions, so a new hire gets an answer in a minute and a manager sees who is actually progressing.

The role today

A new hire’s first month runs on borrowed time from senior staff: “how do we handle this objection,” “where is the template for this,” “who approves this kind of exception.” Each question is quick to answer but there are dozens of them, and the senior person answering is pulled out of their own work every time. The knowledge exists, it is usually written down somewhere, but finding the right document takes longer than asking a colleague, so the colleague gets asked instead.

The deeper cost is inconsistency. Three new hires asking the same question of three different senior staff get three slightly different answers, and six months later nobody is quite sure which one is the actual current process. Training materials get written once at launch and rarely updated, so the gap between “what the wiki says” and “what we actually do now” grows every quarter.

What the agent takes over

The agent is trained on your actual playbooks, SOPs, onboarding docs and a sample of past decisions, not a generic training course. A new hire asks it a question in Slack or Telegram the same way they would ask a colleague, and gets an answer grounded in your real material, with a link to the source document so they can read further if needed.

Based on role and what has already been covered, it suggests the next topic to learn rather than leaving a new hire to guess what matters most this week, and runs a short scenario or quiz before marking a topic as understood rather than just read. Managers get a dashboard of who asked what, where people get stuck, and which topics generate the most repeat questions, which is itself useful information about where the documentation is unclear.

What stays with humans

Judgment calls that genuinely need a manager’s context, performance conversations, and anything the mentor flags as outside its source material stay with human mentors. The agent accelerates the predictable 80% of onboarding questions so senior staff can spend their time on the 20% that actually needs them.

Guards

Every answer is logged with the source document it drew from, so a wrong or outdated answer can be traced back and fixed at the source rather than patched over. A question outside the agent’s material gets routed to a human instead of an improvised answer, and the knowledge base is versioned so an SOP update is reflected the same day rather than weeks later.

Combine this with sales training simulator for roleplay practice on top of the knowledge base, or recruiter and screening earlier in the hiring pipeline. Full packages are on the AI agents service and routine takeover; the B2B certification sales case study shows a similar playbook-driven agent running a sales team’s scripts.

FAQ

How much does an L&D mentor agent cost?

From $2,800 to train on one team's playbooks and documentation, live in 3 to 5 weeks. Covering several departments with separate knowledge bases usually starts around $5,500.

How long until it is live?

3 to 5 weeks: organizing and cleaning up the source material usually takes longer than the build itself, since the mentor is only as good as what it is trained on.

Which channels and tools does it work with?

Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram or a widget on your intranet, reading from your existing docs, wikis and recorded decisions rather than a separate course platform you would have to maintain.

What if it gives a new hire the wrong answer?

It only answers from the material you gave it and says so when a question falls outside that material, routing it to a human mentor instead of guessing. Every answer links back to the source document so it can be checked.

What happens to our internal documents and is it secure?

Your playbooks and SOPs stay in your own storage and accounts; the agent reads from them to answer, it does not publish or share them outside the channel the question came from.
